AhlulBayt News Agency: Mohamed ElBaradei described the proposals put forward by the U.S. president regarding the future of Gaza as “futile.”
In a message on the social media platform X, ElBaradei criticized the dominant narrative in the Zionist discourse, noting that it is based on the claim that the land “from the river to the sea” belongs to Israel, and within this framework, there is essentially no room for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.
ElBaradei also addressed the responses of Arab and Islamic countries to developments in Palestine, noting that these reactions have largely been limited to verbal condemnations, while ultimately the international community is called upon to take greater responsibility.
The former Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency further commented on proposals regarding the future of the Gaza Strip, saying that these plans are based on the forced displacement of its residents and the transformation of Gaza into a tourist zone. He emphasized that even if such ideas were implemented, they would bring no benefit to the Palestinian people.
In recent months, as clashes in Gaza continue and tensions rise in the West Bank, discussions over the political and security future of these areas have intensified at both regional and international levels. Amid this context, the proposal put forward by U.S. President Donald Trump to end the Gaza conflict—which was coordinated with Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu and some Arab leaders—has drawn widespread criticism from former officials, political analysts, and regional experts. Many view it not as a path to peace, but as an effort to consolidate Israeli dominance and undermine Palestinian rights.
